Q: Tell me a little bit about your journey as a business owner! What led you to where you are today?
A: I grew up on the Cape, graduating from Harwich High. I actually left the Cape after college for my first role in the tech industry as a Product Manager. There, I learned sharp organizational, cross-functional, and project management skills, which are all extremely widely used as a wedding planner today.
After that, I moved back to Cape Cod and worked in hospitality, where I oversaw the performance of three small beach inns. I created a new wedding program from scratch, inclusive of a sales template, marketing, training, pricing, venue capacity, day-of coordination & planning, etc. I acted as the venue coordinator within a much bigger role, and that’s where I discovered, “Hey! I’m really good at this!” I swear, I attribute my developed project management skills and Type A Planning personality to my success in transitioning to the wedding industry.
Q: Where are you located, and what area do you serve?
A: [My business] is located on Cape Cod, and serves Cape Cod, Boston metro, south shore, southeast MA, Rhode Island, and beyond.
Q: Why do you do what you do? What do you love most about your job?
A: I love being able to see the results or the outcome on wedding day and the joy that I get to see in couple’s faces. Seeing the end results of something that I helped plan & create is my biggest reward and I feel like I’m making a difference in people’s lives. Many people fantasize of what their wedding day will look like, and I get to be a part of making that happen! It’s such a cool feeling, especially since the stakes & emotions are high. Plus, I like how fast-paced it is and the challenge of getting something done on time, it keeps my mind racing, I love the adrenaline and adventure!
Q: What would you say sets you apart from other similar vendors in the industry? What specific type of experience do you want to provide for your clients?
A: I’m very thorough and detail-oriented. I really help couples put all the missing pieces and logistics together. I’m their personal subject matter expert, who really knows the area and the industry, who will think of all the details that couples may have missed. These details will make your day go so much smoother if planned for upfront.
My services are also a la carte, meaning I don’t charge based on budget like a lot of other planners, which I find to be unfair. I charge based on what you need help planning with, so everything is a la carte. From venue selection, to finding available vendors, to budget management, to timeline & logistics to day-of coordination, I truly tailor everything to your needs.
And I don’t work with specific vendors or make any commission or profit, although there are some I frequent often based on past experiences and reputation. I customize everything to your vision and work on your behalf. Every wedding I’ve worked on has been unique. That gives you a special touch of personalization, so you can be sure that there’s no bias and that your event is truly yours and not someone else’s.
Q: Jumping off at that point – what words would you use to describe your style/approach as a planner?
A: I’m very direct, offering a lot of recommendations and advice and I spend a lot of time planning every detail. I also work in stages incrementally. Check-in meetings help us stay organized.
Q: What would be your dream project to work on?
A: Someday, I’d love to be more involved in design, which would require a new skill set, but I’m happy to work with any type of client vision now.
