If you’re searching for a unique waterfront wedding venue with amazing views, historic charm, and ample parking, you’ve come to the right place! Wedgewood Weddings’ Barker House, located along the picturesque Scituate Harbor, is a true hidden gem, with several distinct event spaces and photo opportunities galore.
I absolutely love working at Barker House for two big reasons – one being the amazing photography opportunities, and two being the fabulous care & attention you’ll get from the staff on your big day. Learn all about this incredible wedding venue & see if it’s the perfect space for your wedding!
Originally built in the 17th century (and known as one of the oldest English-style houses in the country), Barker House has been lovingly restored and updated with modern touches to make your wedding dreams come true.
There are plenty of spots on the venue grounds and nearby that make breathtaking wedding photo backdrops.
Not to mention, the venue offers several distinct event spaces so that you can fully customize the vibe & flow of your wedding!
You’ll begin your wedding day in the charming, fully-furnished bridal suite, complete with a fun neon sign a full-length mirror/platform combo. Oftentimes, the bridal suite can set the vibe for the getting-ready portion of a wedding day, and this one is specifically designed to make you feel like royalty as you prepare to say your vows! In fact, some of my favorite photographs I’ve taken at Barker House have been in the bridal suite – of brides touching up their lipstick at the vanity table, standing on the dressing platform showing off that stunning gown for the first time, and simply relaxing & having fun!
If you’re envisioning an outdoor garden wedding ceremony, this is the spot for you. The lovely courtyard is meticulously landscaped and full of colorful blooms that make an absolutely perfect, serene setting for your ceremony.
One of two beautiful reception halls at Barker House, the Williams Room is the epitome of elegance! Standout features include the enormous stone fireplace, the exposed-beam ceilings that add a rustic touch, and large windows with amazing views all around! The Williams Room can comfortably fit up to 220 guests for a sit-down reception, and the room can be easily converted into an indoor ceremony space (with the stunning fireplace as the focal point).
The intimate, cozy New England Room at Barker House is perfect for smaller weddings OR for an indoor cocktail hour. Couples love it because it’s rich in history – it’s housed in a 17th-century building with many original touches still intact. The warm ambiance and charming wood accents lend character to this unique space.
One of the many benefits of having your wedding in a quaint coastal town? Fantastic photo spots that are just as peaceful as they are beautiful! Just a few miles away is the epic Scituate Lighthouse, where you and your spouse-to-be will have so much fun taking photos and exploring the waterfront. Just a short drive away is the beach by the Scituate Harbor Yacht Club, which also offers a view of the lighthouse. With plenty of parking available at the yacht club, this little stretch of beach was the perfect spot for Sarah & Patrick to take photos with their large wedding party (including their dog Lola!), despite the freezing cold weather! They were real troopers, and had a blast posing for individual and group portraits.
If you are holding your ceremony outdoors, the elegant courtyard can also serve as a beautiful photo backdrop! Oftentimes, it makes sense to take family portraits right after the wedding ceremony since everyone is already in one place. And when the ceremony space is naturally gorgeous, that makes things even easier!
Photographing weddings at Barker House has introduced me to many other amazing local wedding vendors who share my passion for making your big day unique and special.
